Epilogue ISC-3 (2008)
The 3rd International Conference On Site Characterization
Taipei, Taiwan
1-4 April 2008
Epilogue: We had a great conference thanks to Professor An-Bin Huang and his friendly sponsors and hosts for our international visitors. Approx. 450 participants attended ISC-3 and took part in a welcome reception and TWO conference banquets, as well as social tours.
Introduction:
Following the two successful events on the subject, The National Chiao Tung University (NCTU), South East Asian Geotechnical Society (SEAGS) and Taiwan Geotechnical Society (TGS) are pleased to invite you to attend the 3rd International Conference on Site Characterization (ISC3) in April 2008. The conference will provide an excellent opportunity for engineers, academics, equipment manufacturers, and government officials to present and exchange the latest developments related to Geotechnical and Geophysical site characterization.
Conference Themes
Main theme - lessons learned and future challenges in site characterization for construction and geo-environmental engineering projects.
Proposed sub-themes:
1. In-situ testing methods, including cone penetration, flat dilatometer, pressuremeter, vane, drilling/sampling, & other recently developed techniques such as: seismic dilatometer, vibrocone, flow penetrometer (T-Bars) and dielectric probes.
2. Geophysical approaches, including ground penetrating radar, resistivity, electromagnetic conductivity, crosshole, downhole, & surface waves.
3. Case studies utilizing one or more in-situ & geophysical techniques in site characterization for geotechnical and/or geo-environmental purposes.
Call for Abstracts and Proposals
Prospective authors are invited to submit a one page abstract of no more than 500 words. We accept proposals for all activities of the conference, including short courses, workshops, debates, plenary lectures, mini-symposia, panel discussions & technical sessions. The proposed activities should be directly relevant to geotechnical practitioners and educators in the area of in situ/geophysical site characterization. The individual abstracts and proposals may be submitted by one of the following methods:
By post:
