Offshore Soundings

Offshore soundings can be completed using a coneboat, barge, special ships, and/or offshore jackup platforms. The effects of waves and tidal variations, as well as risk of storms and instability, make offshore work particularly tricky. In addition, care must be given to the reference line for the zero baseline readings (taken on deck; at mean sealevel; or alternatively, at mudline depth).
